Home for Christmas

  • Christmas is the most merry time of the year, spreading love and festive cheer. Woodbridge in Suffolk wears the crown, of the happiest of UK towns. Richmond upon Thames jingled into second place, slipping from last year’s top spot, while Hexham in Northumberland came third.
  • This year, residents of Scotland, Wales, and the South West reported being the happiest with where they live overall, while those in the East and West Midlands said they were the least happy.
  • The environment that made residents happiest is a rural area near a woodland or forest, and also close to a National Park or National Landscape (formerly known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) – a place full of year-round cheer.
